We will be in the season of Lent and will have a program dedicated to our spiritual walk. Looking ahead…
April 19, at our noon potluck meeting we will be discussing the book The Faith Club: A Muslim, A Christian, A Jew – Three Women Search for Understanding, by Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver, and Priscilla Warner. (NY: Free Press, 2006) This book is about three mothers from New York City who come together after the 9/11 attack to collaborate on a book for children about Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. They soon encounter their ignorance of each other’s traditions. They explore their prejudices, beliefs, and religious practices. Consisting of short first-person accounts taken from their journals and taped conversation, The Faith Club (not a children’s book at all) airs their conflicts and tracks their transformations. Here’s your chance to get a copy and be reading now.
